THE CUT OF THE COVENANT- Part 2

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Thanksgiving Service

In his continuation from last week’s sermon titled “The Cut of the Covenant,” Pastor Jimmy drew insights from 1 Corinthians 1:18-22, framing the context as a cultural tension between religious Jews and intellectual Greeks. He emphasized the Jews’ history with God’s signs, even in the presence of Jesus Christ, yet their persistent demand for more signs. Analyzing 1 Corinthians 1:23 through Deuteronomy 21:22-23 and Galatians 3:13, Pastor Jimmy explained the stumbling block for Jews in the crucifixion, revealing the hidden redemptive power behind the seemingly cursed cross. In contrast, the Greeks, relying on logic and eloquence, struggled to grasp a Supreme being offering His Son as a sacrifice. Reading from 1 Corinthians 2:1-16 and 1 Corinthians 4:20, Pastor Jimmy highlighted the power behind the spoken word of God, which may defy logic but suffices. Concluding with Ephesians 1:13-14, he affirmed that accepting Jesus marks believers with the Holy Spirit’s seal, carrying a coded message. Encouraging spiritual expressions like speaking in tongues, he referenced Romans 8:26, where the Holy Spirit intercedes. The sermon closed with the resounding proclamation that believers are marked by the Spirit, as God’s presence encompasses their existence.

MIRACULOUS THURSDAY SHOWERS

On Thursday, November 23, 2023, while Thanksgiving Day was globally celebrated, The Fountain of Life Church had an early Thanksgiving during its regular Thursday Showers service, marked by a creative and miraculous atmosphere as God instantly addressed the needs of three congregation members. The Senior Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, guided by the Holy Spirit, declared, “In this month of glorious encounters, people that you do not know will favour you… For someone here, help is coming before the end of the service. God will cause men to give unto you.” He went on to prophesy unexpected favours for attendees. Pastor Odukoya then, through a word of knowledge, identified individuals requiring financial assistance for school fees—a woman named Rita and two other men came forward. Congregation members generously responded, with a first-time Showerian donating N680,000 to the young man, surpassing his N140,000 fees. For Rita, needing 7,500 Canadian dollars (N6.5 million), her expectations were superseded as the congregation’s combined contributions exceeded her expectations, reaching N10 million. The third man, requiring N50,000 for his children’s fees, received over N250,000. This service witnessed instant miracles as strangers generously met the needs of these individuals, affirming Pastor Jimmy’s earlier declaration. The palpable joy and excitement in the service culminated in Pastor Jimmy Odukoya’s reminder of God as the Good Shepherd, transforming places of lack into abundance. He prayed for increase and replenishment for givers and for God to meet the needs of those yet to receive.
