THE CUT OF THE COVENANT- 3

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @Sunday Service

The December 3rd Sunday service at The Fountain of Life Church Headquarters in Lagos was nothing short of powerful! Senior Pastor Jimmy Odukoya reiterated the truth that God remains in the business of giving gifts and urged Fountaineers to stay open to receiving from Him. He conveyed this message while welcoming both online and on-site attendees to the month of Abundant Gifts.

Continuing his sermon on the third part of the series, “The Cut of The Covenant,” which he initiated three Sundays earlier, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya reminded his listeners that the Holy Spirit is the Pledge of God to Believers. This reference harked back to Part 1 of the series, where he had previously explained the distinction between a Pledge and a Treaty.

He also reminded them that, just as the circumcision of the children of Israel was their sign of eligibility to inherit the promised land, Christ Jesus is the inheritance for anyone in covenant with God. The seal of ownership by the Holy Spirit on their lives signifies this covenant, as he explained, “Christ shows us in the Scripture that He is both our inheritance and the Way to our inheritance (John 14: 1-6; Ephesians 1: 3-12). But only heirs inherit. You are eligible to feature in the inheritance discussion only when you are an heir. But how do you become an heir?”

The Senior Pastor then focused on his message of the Holy Spirit as the agent of God who transforms the Believer from a purchased servant to an adopted son.

“When Christ died on the Cross, God paid the bill of sin and purchased us as servants (1 Corinthians 6:20). We were initially bought as servants, made ready for adoption as sons who are able to inherit,” he explained. He continued, “But there is a requirement for a servant to become eligible for inheritance. It is Circumcision, which is the requirement for anyone purchased to be able to inherit (Genesis 17:13).” However, the clergy noted that this circumcision is that of the heart and not necessarily of the flesh.

He proceeded to illustrate how the Holy Spirit works in multiple ways to facilitate the transformation of the Believer from servant to son/daughter. According to him, the Holy Spirit begins the work of translation of the believer from servant to son by first circumcising the heart. He then endorses them as co-heirs with Christ, and He becomes a Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Counsellor, Intercessor, and Standby all at the same time while bearing different gifts for the benefit of the believer (1 Corinthians 12:1-13).

Stewarding A Dream

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @Thursday Showers

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, Senior Pastor of the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, shared a profound sermon titled “Stewarding A Dream” during the Thursday Showers service on November 30, 2023. The message seamlessly blended the prophetic with a touch of his personal journey in career, business, family life, and acting careers in both Nollywood and Hollywood.

Addressing the power of dreams and visions, he emphasized that dreams and visions come from God and are designed to be intimidating. “If your dream is not big enough to scare you, then God is not involved. It’s literally an impossibility; but impossible is only impossible until it happens,” he remarked.

He explained that when God imparts a dream, it involves a process, and each stage presents something new. While these dreams may stretch, shake, and stress the dreamer, they will not break because God has evaluated their capacity and ability.

In Pastor Jimmy’s words, “You have not because you ask not. For some, your dream may seem ludicrous because it has never happened in your family, just like Mary, the mother of Jesus. What is impossible with man is possible with God.”

The clergy pointed out that at times, God’s gift of a dream is not just about the individual but their entire generation. “If Joseph didn’t go through the process; if he had aborted the dream, the entire children of Israel would have been wiped out. Sometimes, we don’t see things happen because we don’t simply take God at His word. Everything is designed on purpose,” he emphasized.

He further stressed that nothing involving God is coincidental; everything is intentional because everyone is His masterpiece. “Sometimes, the dreams of God will force you into a terrain that is not known because you yourself must become the trailblazer, and it will cost you. But if God has called you, His grace will sustain you,” he added.

Pastor Jimmy shared the story of how he secured a lead role in the Hollywood blockbuster movie, ‘The Woman King,’ highlighting God’s favour in acting alongside veteran actress Viola Davis. “Timing is everything. When the time comes and you step on the stage, you are qualified to occupy what He has kept in store for you the whole time. When you play alongside the best, you must bring out your best… When God says something is for you, He will topple governments, break down structures, and do whatever is necessary,” he explained.

In conclusion, Pastor Jimmy emphasized the pivotal role the Holy Spirit played in his life throughout his acting career. Acknowledging the reality of the Holy Spirit, he said, “The Holy Spirit is not a figment of your imagination- He is a person. When you acknowledge Him and give Him the space to be who He is, you will be surprised at the things He will do. He is the Spirit of God, and you have access to Him 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He sees all, knows all, hears all, is omnipresent, in everything, with everyone at the same time.”
