LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE

Pastor Akin Osinbajo @ Sunday First Service

Pastor Akin Osinbajo at the August 12 Sunday first service noted that believers are supposed to be the light that shines in the world through their lifestyle. This, he said, they can achieve by displaying the good works for which they have become new creatures in Christ. “Your lifestyle must be an eloquent testimonial of the fact that you are truly a follower of Jesus Christ,” he said.

Speaking from Matthew 5:14-16, 1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 2:10 and James 2:14-26, he likens a Christian’s lifestyle to a lamp or light which warns, guides and leads, stating that such lifestyle should warn and guide sinners, and lead them to Christ. According to him, many believers hide their identity and compromise their faith in some circumstances. This, he said, has repelled many unsaved souls from accepting Christ. “Whatever you do and whatever position you hold, your life must not lead people astray,” he stated.

He therefore urged them to always represent Christ wherever they find themselves, and make positive impacts in people’s lives. “Let your light shine in a way that doesn’t cause others to sin or do evil,” he enjoined.

“THE POWER OF INTERCESSION”

Pastor Babatunde Ladipo @ Sunday Second Service

Describing the power of God and the great and mighty things He will do for His children, Pastor Babatunde Ladipo at the second service said that the secret is in intercession, which is selfless prayers that place others (first) before God. “The credential of the church is power and the secret of that power is unseasonal, relentless, fervent, effectual, agonizing and heartfelt intercession,” he said.

Speaking from Isaiah 64:1-4, Exodus 17:18, 1 Timothy 2:1-4 and Esther 4:12-16, Pastor Babatunde stated that when intercessory prayers are offered on behalf of others and the nation, there would be salvation of souls as well as peace and quietness in the land. “The weapons of your warfare are not canal but mighty through God to pulling down every stronghold. Your intercessory prayer avails much,” he stated.

He then urged believers to outsmart the devil by walking in unity because division, which is the devil’s tool against Christians, would be swept away if they can be united to intercede for one another as well as the nation. “God shares secrets with intercessors and they have the greatest gift of access to God,” he said.

“INTERNAL AFFAIRS”

Pastor Oyinkansola Alabi @ Thursday Showers

The challenges of the world could make life so frustrating if the mind does not handle them well and there is no necessary understanding of how to deal with issues. This can lead to depression and, sometimes, suicide. But life can be lived victoriously when believers know their Source and always go back to Him whenever they are faced with challenges. This was the summary of Pastor Oyinkansola Alabi’s message at the August 9 Thursday Showers service.

According to her, taking responsibility for one’s internal engagements, transactions and paradigms can happen when one knows that God is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-doing,  and forms the habit of going back to Him just like David (in 1 Samuel 30:1-8) and the Shunammite woman (in 2 Kings 4:8-16) did. “We are in a world where disappointments, pains, heartbreaks and even death are part of the journey, but going back to God for solutions is the only way to have victory,” she said.

She then encouraged believers to always align their thoughts with their words, which should be seasoned with the Word of God. This, she said, can happen when they deliberately own their thoughts, souls, emotions and responses. “Don’t faint in the day of the adversity. There is somewhere you are supposed to draw strength from, and that place is God, your source,” she stated.
