Scripture: GALATIANS 3:13-14
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
When the late renowned Hungarian pianist Andor Foldes was 16, something strange happened. Skilled though he was, he had had a terrible year. One day, Emil von Sauer, one of the most renowned pianists of his day came to Budapest. Von Sauer was the last surviving student of the great Franz Liszt. He requested the young Andor Foldes to play something for him. Foldes got on the piano and strummed out the complicated works of Bach, Beethoven, and Schumann. When he finished, an impressed Von Sauer came over, kissed his forehead, and said, “My son, when I was your age I became a student of Liszt. He kissed me on the forehead after my first lesson, saying, ‘’Take good care of this kiss—it comes from Beethoven who gave it to me after hearing me play.’ I have waited for years to pass on this sacred heritage, but now I feel you deserve it.”
Buoyed by von Sauer’s blessing, Andor Foldes went on to become one of the greatest pianists in the world.
But we have a more powerful and lasting blessing, one that transcends the symbolism of a kiss and contains the power to make us practically unstoppable. This same blessing transformed Abraham from a wandering nomad to one of the most powerful men of his time. His wealth surpassed royalty’s. He single-handedly waged a war against five kings and prevailed. It was this same blessing Esau cried for, and Jacob received, increasing beyond Laban’s domain and becoming a mighty nation. This blessing distinguished the nation of Israel as God’s own, and it is this blessing, through Christ, we have come to inherit.
The blessing has a history of lifting those who walk in it. It will lift you, in Jesus’ name! God did not save you to bring you into a life of seemingly pious poverty, weakness and despair. He saved you that you might inherit a blessing. Today and always, be blessing conscious. God expects you to be. You have inherited a blessing in Christ Jesus; you will manifest its fruits like the ancients did. Expect the blessing to speak for you. Indeed you are blessed!
MEMORIZE & MEDITATE
“Not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.” 1 PETER 3:9
Lord, I thank You because You have indeed blessed me with all spiritual blessings in Christ. Grant me the grace to walk conscious of this blessing and to exercise its power to Your glory. I am an heir of the blessing. Abraham’s blessings are mine. I am blessed in Jesus’ name.
