THE HOLY SPIRIT

Pastor Taiwo Odukoya @ Sunday service

In continuation of his message on the Holy Spirit, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya said at the January 29 Sunday service that the beginning of victory in life for the Christian is having the knowledge that they have a heavenly Father. “When your mindset is aligned with your spirit, your body does not have a choice but to connect,” he said.

According to him, living a victorious life for Christians starts with the convergence of the Holy Spirit with their spirits and subsequently walking in the consciousness of being carriers of the Holy Spirit. This, he said, can be fulfilled through studying the word of God, witnessing for God, and constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit. “Having a dialogue with Christ helps you get a better understanding of who He is to you; so, forget who you are and create an unmovable mindset of yourself because the Spirit of God dwells in you,” he said.

Speaking from Romans 1:8 and Ephesians 3:14, the clergy who declared the month of February as the month of the Holy Spirit further noted that having a mind-set that aligns with the Spirit of God makes one see life differently. “The primary work of the Holy Spirit is to reveal Jesus to you and in you,” he said.

He continued, “The primary work of the Holy Ghost is to make us like Christ, and we should radiate a Christ-like attitude in all that we do.”

He therefore urged the congregation to strive to have the right mindset through prayer, as God is able to surpass their expectations through the strengthening of their inner man. “We should constantly fellowship with the Holy Spirit; if we don’t make time to fellowship with the Holy Spirit, the strength of our connection with the Holy Spirit fades and our inner man won’t be edified,” he said.

Thursday Showers

Pastor Taiwo Odukoya has urged believers to develop a solid relationship with the Holy Spirit and walk in their true identity in Him. He said this while admonishing the worshippers at the January 26 Thursday Showers.

According to the clergy, any believer who desires to have a personal relationship with God has to start such a relationship using the Word of God, noting that all victories over the devil and his activities can be won through the Word. “The word of God and the Spirit of God in a Christian produce miracles; living by the word of God allows a believer to overcome the spirit of fear,” he said.

Speaking from John 1:1–5, Romans 8:15, and 2 Timothy 1:7, Pastor Taiwo said that any believer who does not have the Holy Spirit does not belong to the family of God, noting that a Christian is always to access himself or herself in the light of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. In his words, “Christians are called to love people because they are to always access themselves in the light of the Holy Spirit and the word of God.”

The Senior Pastor also cited Ephesians 1:3 and Galatians 2:20 to note that believers are blessed individuals and are expected to live in that reality. This reality, he said, would make such a believer live a life of faith just like the patriarchs of faith listed in Hebrews 11, who lived a life of faith. “Their life of faith should be an example for believers to know it is possible to live a life of faith,” he noted.

He therefore admonished believers to always shine their light and fight the good fight of faith, as admonished in Matthew 5:14–16 and Isaiah 60:1. “The work of the Holy Spirit is to empower you to become a witness of the light; this will be achieved when there is a space in your life for the Holy Spirit,” he urged.
