Pastor Christie Bature @ Word Explosion Conference Sunday Service
The grand finale of the annual Word Explosion Conference was electric with truth and transformation as Pastor Christie Bature delivered a powerful message on overcoming bad habits, controlling behaviours, and addictions.
Addressing the seriousness of addiction, Pastor Christie, a certified addiction therapist and licensed polygrapher, described it as both real and destructive, a stronghold of the enemy in the lives of those affected. She emphasized that addiction can be the result of learned habits as well as demonic influence.
Reading from Isaiah 49:24–25, James 5:16, and Jeremiah 30:17, she explained that the yoke of addiction can be broken through a combination of psychological and spiritual rehabilitation. She highlighted that the church is uniquely equipped to deal with both the habitual and spiritual dimensions of addiction.
As the CEO of 180 Degrees Rehabilitation Centre in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Pastor Bature reminded believers that they are not called to live by feelings but by the efficacy of the Word of God. “God never leaves us, even when we fail,” she reassured the congregation.
She urged anyone struggling with addiction to come out of hiding, warning that the power of addiction thrives in secrecy. “Seeking help leads to healing,” she declared, adding that what the enemy meant for destruction can be transformed into weapons of victory—if we allow God to work through us.
The Promise, The Praise, And The Power
Pastor Toluwani Odukoya @ Word Explosion Conference
The May 1 Thursday Showers service, which coincided with the annual Word Explosion Conference, was filled with vibrant praise, the word, and prophetic encounters. A joyful praise session ushered the congregation deeper into God’s presence, followed by a powerful rendition from the Grace Levites choir that transitioned seamlessly into spontaneous worship.
Pastor Toluwani opened with heartfelt songs of thanksgiving and adoration before sharing on the topic “The Promise, The Praise, and The Power.” She emphasized the importance of trusting in God’s promises, declaring that believers are entitled to them from the moment they are born again. “You carry God. You are a carrier,” she declared.
Drawing from Hebrews 6:12–20, the Associate Senior Pastor highlighted that praise activates the supernatural and invites God into the lives of believers. Using 2 Chronicles 20:20–22, she illustrated how praise produces victory. “If you don’t know God, you can’t really praise Him, because praise and worship are about connection. Praise is the fastest way to get things moving in the supernatural,” she explained.
She concluded her message with a charge to the congregation to examine the motive and power behind their praise. “When we come into His presence, we come with an understanding of who God is and why we are here. We have a mandate, which is to show the sons of darkness that there is light in Goshen,” she said.
She added a final reminder: “When you invite the Holy Spirit into your space, there are certain things that cannot stay in that atmosphere.”
