Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya continued his series on Divine Reset at the May 17 Sunday service with a message titled Mind Reset, focusing on the importance of perspective and how the condition of the mind shapes the believer’s interpretation of life and reality. He stated that perspective is the invisible framework through which individuals interpret life and is often shaped by experience.

Using the analogy of a lens, Pastor Jimmy highlighted several characteristics that affect perspective: clarity, depth, colour, scale, and interpretation. Speaking from Psalms 119:130, Numbers 13:32 and Matthew 6:22, he described Clarity as the ability to see accurately and in focus, noting that many believers, though informed, may still have distorted perspectives. He added that information alone is not clarity, and possessing facts does not necessarily mean understanding the truth. “True clarity comes from the Word of God,” he added.

He further explained that depth determines how far a person can see, adding that believers should not merely see situations from a human point of view, but should develop the ability to see as God sees. Explaining how colour affects a believer’s perspectives, Pastor J noted that emotional wounds, trauma, fear, cultural bias, and past experiences can act as the emotional and experiential tint through which they interpret life. This, he said, can distort perspective and alter how reality is perceived.

He also noted how scale, which he referred to as magnification, and interpretation affect believers’ perspectives. According to him, having an accurate interpretation which comes from God’s Word will make a believer have a better understanding of their situation, not magnifying the challenges above God. In his words, “If problems appear larger than God, then the scale through which those situations are viewed must be adjusted. Wrong interpretation can cause people to abandon what God is doing in their lives.”

He therefore urged the congregation to allow God’s Word to reshape their perspective so they can see life, circumstances, and themselves through the lens of truth rather than fear, trauma, or limitation.

Earlier in the service, Pastor Toluwani Odukoya shared the Promise of the Week from Numbers 23:23 with the congregation, emphasising the certainty of God’s protection and His power to bring His purposes to pass in the lives of His children. She noted that no divination against them will stand, and that there will be undeniable evidence of God’s hand upon their lives, causing people to marvel at what the Lord has done.
