Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service
At the May 24 Sunday Service, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya delivered a profound message titled Heart Reset, focusing on the condition of the human heart and the urgent need for believers to guard it against corruption. Speaking from Jeremiah 17:9, he described the heart as the operating system of the body, the control centre from which thoughts, actions, and desires flow. He emphasised that the natural human heart is deceitful, desperately sick, and capable of producing evil if left unchecked.
Using Deuteronomy 30:6 and Ezekiel 36:24-26, Pastor Jimmy explained God’s desire to circumcise the hearts of believers by removing hearts of stone and replacing them with hearts of flesh, along with a new spirit empowered by the Holy Spirit. He further outlined five progressive stages that eventually lead to a corrupted heart:
• Compromise – A deliberate deviation from what is known to be right.
• Justification – Making peace with wrong by creating excuses to make it appear acceptable
• Repetition – When what was once occasional becomes habitual, turning sin into a believer’s default pattern.
• Insensitivity – A dangerous state where the believer no longer discerns God’s voice and mistakes spiritual numbness for peace or maturity.
• Hardness – The final stage where the once-tender heart becomes stony, resulting in spiritual blindness, self-sufficiency, and the reproduction of corruption.
Pastor Jimmy warned that when a believer becomes enslaved to sin, sin shifts from an occasional act to a destructive lifestyle, producing chains and consequences. However, he reassured the congregation that true freedom comes through a divine reset of the heart.
He concluded by urging believers to draw near to God with humility, repentance, and contrition, reminding them that it is never too late for restoration with God. “The only way to keep your heart free from all deceits is to circumcise it. You can have a reset of heart by coming close to God,” he urged.
Earlier in the service, Toluwani Odukoya encouraged the congregation with the Promise of the Week from Isaiah 60:22, declaring that they were stepping into a season where little efforts would produce extraordinary results as God enlarges His people beyond imagination. She encouraged believers to trust fully in God, who is faithful to bring His promises to pass.
