Pastor Toluwani Odukoya @ Sunday Service
The Mother’s Day celebration held during the Sunday service on May 10 at The Fountain of Life Church was a moment of honour and appreciation for mothers within the congregation, recognising their dedication, sacrifice, and invaluable contributions to both family and society. Pastor Toluwani Odukoya was also specially recognised as a virtuous and godly example to mothers in the church.
Ministering on the message titled “Legacy of Love,” Pastor Toluwani emphasised the importance of parents leaving behind a godly legacy for their children, not merely through material inheritance, but through values, character, and love. She noted that legacy is something every parent builds either intentionally or unintentionally through their actions, words, and lifestyle.
According to her, there are three dimensions of legacy parents can leave for their children. The first, Imprint Legacy, was described as the unconscious influence parents have on their children through their conduct and daily living. Referencing Proverbs 20:7, she explained that this type of legacy is not formally taught but is absorbed through observation and consistent examples.
She also spoke on Impartation Legacy, which she described as the intentional transfer of godly values through teaching, nurturing spiritual gifts, and speaking words that shape destinies. Drawing references from Genesis 18:19, 2 Timothy 1:6, Exodus 1:22–2:4, and Hebrews 11:24–28, she encouraged mothers to intentionally instill the knowledge and fear of God in their children.
Pastor Toluwani also explained the Transfer and Continuity Stage, describing it as a legacy that outlives parents and continues through future generations. Referencing Psalm 145:4, she emphasised the importance of passing down godly values and love from one generation to another.
She therefore encouraged parents to leave their children with the lasting legacy of the Holy Spirit. “The love of God supersedes the great love of a mother. God is a beautiful example of a legacy that you can leave in the lives of your children,” she urged.
Earlier during the service, the Promise for the Week was taken by Pastor Sarah from Deuteronomy 28:13. She encouraged the congregation to remain aligned with God’s commandments in order to fully experience His promises and blessings.
