Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service
In continuation of his series on New Territories, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, at the February 22 Family Sunday Service, spoke on the topic, “The Inhabiters.” He emphasised that believers’ faith and obedience to God’s instructions are vital to the fulfilment of His promises, not only for their lives but for generations after them.
Speaking from Isaiah 54:3, Genesis 17:17, Exodus 3:15, Exodus 20:5–6, and Psalm 103:17, he reminded the congregation that God’s plans transcend a single lifetime. “The God we serve is a generational God,” he said, stressing that God’s promises are designed to outlive us.
Drawing insight from Genesis 22:17 and Genesis 12:1–4, Pastor Jimmy explained to the congregation that just as Abraham’s obedience secured generational blessings, their faith today establishes future influence. He said, “Sometimes, the faith God requires of you has to do with your descendants after you. Your faithfulness today becomes inheritance tomorrow.”
He further emphasised that God will not promise expansion without people to carry it, noting that when God speaks of enlargement, our descendants are part of His covenant design. “Children, therefore, are not interruptions to destiny but extensions of it,” he said.
He also cautioned that promises alone are not enough, stating that “Inheritance without preparation produces loss and promise without formation produces failure.” Encouraging parents, he stated that parenting is spiritual warfare and urged them to intentionally train their children to be prepared for the inheritance God has promised.
Earlier in the service, Pastor Toluwani anchored the week’s promise on 2 Kings 3:17, encouraging the congregation that before manifestation comes obedience. She explained that God gives instructions that require expectation. “When we obey in expectation, we will experience manifestation,” she said.
Addressing both parents and children, she encouraged families to journey together in faith during this season of expansion. “We are in a season where God wants us to take our children along to see what He will do. Our expectation is our obedience, and when we do that, we will see the manifestation of God,” she concluded.
