Pastor Bisoye Okwoli @ Sunday Service

Pastor Bisoye Okwoli during the March 24 Sunday service announced to the congregation that the mercy of God is not only about forgiveness of sin but also about adoption—being a child with full rights. “The mercy of God provides the Christian with the assurance of eternal life. We can tell the accuser of the brethren that we have a new life in Jesus,” she said.

The clergy, while elaborating on the responsibility of Christians as recipients of God’s mercy, stated that the mercy of God has given them the authority to reign on earth, adding that the mercy of God brings along with it authority and the ability to bind and loose.

In her words, “The mercy of God gives Christians access to enter boldly into God’s presence, provides access to the name and blood of Jesus, and empowers them as carriers of the Holy Spirit. Being carriers of the Holy Spirit also means that the Christian carries the creative ability of God. The sum total of a Christian’s life is a function of what he or she allows or disallows.”

Pastor Bisoye explained that man is of great importance to God, which is why authority was given to him. This, according to her, means that the mercy of God comes with the responsibility of preaching the gospel and winning souls for Christ. She said, “Everything a Christian does should always have the motive or intention of drawing new souls to Christ. This is a responsibility for all, regardless of whatever the situation in our lives may be.”

She continued, “A broken and contrite heart are the sacrifices that God require from His children to access His mercy.”

She therefore urged them to rise to the task of spreading the gospel of Christ, making it their top priority as they walk conscious of the mercy of God. “God does not work with perfect vessels but rather cleans you up as He uses you. So, it is never too late to take on the assignment of living for Christ,” she stated.

“DIG UP THE WELLS”

Pastor Tony Olu-Kanayo @ Thursday Showers

Christians must dig up the wells of virtues earlier dug by the Fathers of Faith if they want to see the flow of God’s power amidst them in tangible forms. That was the kernel of Pastor Tony Olu-Kanayo’s ministration at the Thursday Showers of March 21.

Teaching from Genesis 26:12-22, the cleric described the foundational work that had been done by the fathers and mothers in the faith as wells from which life has flowed for present day Christians to draw from. “But we have allowed the Philistines to fill those wells with earth,” he stated.

He charged Showerians to stop being Celebrity Christians and get back to unblocking the wells of virtues that the fathers had dug so that they could begin to operate in the realm of glory as the fathers did. “Anywhere you see a well, it shows that there is prosperity, life, and a thriving economy. In the Scripture, we see that wells are places of encounters. You don’t need to reinvent the well, you just need to remove the debris that has covered the well and let the water flow,” he said.

Pastor Tony urged the worshippers to learn from the life of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, who followed the instruction of God to plant a church in Ilupeju, a location that did not look promising for starting ministry, adding that they should get more serious with God and desist from playing church. He said, “If you want to walk with God, you must isolate yourself. Take yourself out of the limelight, let Him work on you and bring you into the limelight by Himself. If you busy yourself seeking God, people will be the ones looking for you.”

He then urged his listeners to let go of pride and everything that can hinder them from witnessing Christ to others. “The reason we find it hard to preach to others is because we are proud. It takes humility to walk up to someone and say, ‘You need to receive Jesus.’ We need to dig up the well of humility so that God can take us from the realm of anointing to the realm of glory,” he stated.

He thereafter led the congregation in a session of prayers, asking God for grace to dig up the wells of mercy, worship, the Word, and humility.
