Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service
Speaking during the November 16 Sunday service, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya laid the foundation for his sermon, “Manna Diaries,” dwelling on God’s assurance of sustaining His own in any kind of situation.
Referencing the account of how God provided for the children of Israel in the wilderness when they had nothing to eat and later began to murmur against Moses and Aaron as recorded in Exodus 16:1-7, 16-21, Pastor Jimmy mentioned that God would sometimes bring believers into a wilderness experience to test the state of their hearts, whether it’s transactional or loyal.
“Sometimes God brings us into a wilderness experience to test and see what is really in our heart. To know if we are serving him based on convenience or to know if our relationship with him is transactional,” he said.
He further stressed the need for Christians to be careful of the urge to get blessed at all cost irrespective of the source, adding that there is nothing like a free meal when it comes to the devil. he said, “Not everything that feeds you frees you. Not every place that feeds you frees you, because on one hand, they are feeding your appetite for sin and flesh but with the other hand, they are enslaving you. There is nothing like a free meal when it comes to the devil.”
Pastor Jimmy also emphasised on the need for believers to be always connected to the source (God) if He must show up for them in ways that defy all natural capacity just like He did for the children of Israel. He therefore urged his listeners to never limit God, who is Supernatural, to their natural senses.
Earlier in the service, Pastor Toluwani Odukoya shared the Promise of the Week from Psalm 3:3, admonishing the congregation that whatever they are going through, they should know that the Lord is their shield and glory and no matter how bleak the situation looks, there is a God who is ever ready to come through for them.
