Abiding in Christ Guarantees Everlasting Joy. these were the words of Pastor Jimmy Odukoya to worshippers at The Fountain of Life Church.
During his message at the December 14 Sunday service, Pastor Jimmy admonished believers to abide in Christ, which he identified as the essential ingredient required for a believer to enjoy everlasting joy.
In his sermon titled, “Joy Package,” the Senior Pastor emphasised that this joy has been given to every believer who surrenders to the Lordship of the Lord Jesus Christ. He continued by saying that joy is not and should not be associated with feelings, emotions, seasons, or circumstances, adding that joy is rooted in union with Christ.
He noted that it is only in God that believers can find everlasting joy, as stated in John 15:11. He further explained that joy is not a reaction or a response, but a residue of abiding in Christ, adding that joy can only be sustained by truth and not by feelings, in line with Jesus’ declaration in John 14:6.
“Joy is rooted in union with Christ. Only joy found in Christ will endure, only joy found in Christ is everlasting,” he said.
He thereafter urged his listeners not to believe the lies of the devil concerning their identity and not to doubt the truth of who God is, stating that everlasting joy is maintained through rejoicing, because a believer’s future is secure, and that life is not happening to a believer but happening for a believer.
While encouraging the congregation with the promise of the week earlier in the service, pastor Toluwani Odukoya read from Job 11:18-19. She told them that there is hope and peace in God, and He will exceed their joy thereby making them influential and impactful. “You will lie down and have blissful rest,” she said.
