IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY!

Senior Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service

“It is your birthday, and there is a party. God has made everything ready for you. Don’t go missing at your birthday party!”

That was the charge with which the senior pastor, Jimmy Odukoya, exhorted Fountaineers at the Sunday Service on June 2, 2024, while speaking on the theme for the month of June, Supernatural Celebration.

Using Psalm 2 as the anchor Scripture, the senior pastor declared that God, from the beginning of time, had prepared a birthday party for all would-be believers at the coronation of Jesus Christ. The clergy also read Ephesians 1:1–15 to drive home the point that God, out of time and ahead of time, had put in place a redemption plan for man that will always abundantly accommodate his frailties.

“God is not stingy with His grace. He lavishes it in abundance in anticipation of your failures, even before you fail. He said, “If God cannot disown Jesus, God cannot disown you.”

Continuing on the constancy of God and His redemption plan, Pastor Jimmy said, “Your sin is not big enough to destroy God’s purpose and plan for your life. He’s never shaken by nor reactive to whatever happens in time, because He had planned it all out of time, right from the beginning of time.”

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya complained about how many people, either out of ignorance or unbelief, choose to be absent at their own birthday party. “What makes a party complete are the guests who come. There is no party without guests. It is painful, however, that many people have kept refusing to show up at their own birthday party (Matthew 22:1–14). God has made everything ready for you. Don’t go missing at your own birthday party!”

On how to gain access to the party, the senior pastor cited John 3:1–8, 1 John 5:1-3, and John 1:12–13 to say that believing in Christ and being born of Water and the Spirit are what it requires to be at the party. “In Christ, God had you in mind before the foundation of the world. With Christ’s offering on the cross and His payment of the full price, the best of God is now available to you, and you can only access it through true belief in Christ, the Son of God.”

He continued: “Grace is not a blank cheque to sin. It is God’s guarantee that He will always redeem you to Himself if you return and allow Him to.”

THE NEW BEGINNING

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Thursday showers

In keeping with the month’s theme, “New Beginning,” Pastor Jimmy Odukoya stated at the Thursday showers on May 30 that God’s promise to make everything new is not time-bound, as He reigns eternally and continuously brings forth newness. Referring to the creation account, the senior pastor emphasised that light has never stopped shining, highlighting the strength of God’s word. “Continuous transformation can be brought about by a single word from God,” he declared.

Using Revelation 21:5, Pastor Jimmy underscored the importance of documenting God’s promises for future reference during challenging times. “The evidence is not for God but for us. And these words are true and accurate; they do not lie. Let it go on for years; they will surely come to be. It gives hope against hope. These words are incorruptible. The validation of the word is not based on us as believers,” Pastor Jimmy said.

Pastor Jimmy, reading from John 15:1, said that abiding in Christ is the first step towards experiencing a new beginning. In his words, “there is an expectation to bear fruit once in Him. God prunes so as to make the Christian bear new fruits by cutting away the parts that would cause a stunt in growth. He prunes so that new beginnings can come from time to time. It’s a continuous process.”

He continued, “To always encounter new beginnings, you must remain in God. True new beginnings can be found only in God; thus, believers should not adhere to worldly ideals but remain rooted in Him.”

Pastor Jimmy exhorted the congregation to remember God’s promises and to maintain their faith, urging them not to conform to the standards of the world but to remain in God. He concluded his message by emphasising that new beginnings start and end with God, urging the congregation to stay united with God because everything else is pointless without this essential unity with Him.
