It’s All in the Stretch

All in the stretch Youtube

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @Sunday service

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, while preaching at the January 18 Sunday service, said that there is a sound every believer hears when God is enlarging them, that sound is not an applause or celebration sound, but tension. “If you are going to have any kind of stretching, there must be a tension,” he said

Speaking from Isaiah 54:2, he said that it is never comfortable when God is stretching His own, adding that there is no expansion without strain. He further said that tension is not that God is absent, but the evidence that growth is happening.

He said, “Every season of increase carries tension. Every divine expansion introduces strain. If there is no tension, there would be no need for stretching. So when you are experiencing stretches in your life, it means growth is happening.”

He continued, “Tension is the resistance you feel when heaven is pulling you forward, and familiarity is pulling you backwards. Tension is the pressure created when two opposite realities pull at the same time.”

Pastor Jimmy also stated that tension occurs in three particular places or scenarios, namely, between the promise and the process; between the calling and capacity; and between faith and familiarity. He referred to Isaiah 54:2-4 to say that expansion doesn’t necessarily come with comfort, adding that while God commands expansion, He doesn’t necessarily promise comfort/ “Expansion will not be comfortable,” he noted.

He urged his listeners to focus on expansion instead of comfort.

Encouraging the congregation earlier in the service with the promise of the week was pastor Dipo Oshinloye. Speaking from John 15:16, the clergy noted seven components that define a believer’s life. They include divine election, divine commission, divine movement, divine productivity, divine sustainability, divine authority, and divine provision. He urged them to walk in this reality as that ensures their expansion.
