Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service
Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, ministering on the message “Arise O’Clock” at the August 9 Sunday service, challenged the church to respond to the light God has already made available. Drawing from Isaiah 60:1, he outlined six principles of arising and shining for believers.
On the first principle, Arise from Revelation, he said the believer’s responsibility is to recognise the light through revelation and respond in obedience. He noted that revelation often comes before manifestation, conviction before transformation, and promise before possession. Referencing Genesis 12:1, he explained that God may give instructions without full explanations, because faith requires sufficient light for the next step, not complete visibility.
On Arise in Posture, he emphasised that a change in position often precedes manifestation. Speaking from Joshua 7:10, he noted that a posture appropriate in one season can become disobedience in another. Drawing from the man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5:1–8, he challenged believers to stop occupying the posture of their previous season, noting that the very thing they have been lying on may be what God is calling them to rise above.
On Arise in Restoration, Pastor J explained that arising does not always mean activity, sometimes it means rest. Referring to Mark 6:30–31 and 1 Kings 19:5–8, he reminded the church that rest is not contrary to God’s will, and that God may deliberately provide a season of rest to prepare His people for what the next season demands.
On Arise in Perspective, he explained that God often changes a person’s capacity to interpret their circumstances before He changes the circumstances themselves. Drawing from Acts 10:10–15 and Isaiah 54:2, he said God enlarges thinking before He enlarges territory, adding that a new dimension of responsibility cannot be sustained within an old mental framework.
On Arise in Purpose, he encouraged the church to move forward despite fear, stressing that courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to move regardless of it. Referencing Acts 9:5–6 and Genesis 13:15–17, he explained that movement often precedes clarity, and some doors only open when believers take the first step.
Closing the message with Arise to Reveal, drawing from Isaiah 60:2 and Matthew 5:16, he explained that the ultimate purpose of arising is not personal recognition but for God to become visible through His people. He described believers as billboards projecting Jesus, reminding the church that as light bearers, their lives should reveal the fruit of the Spirit rather than bitterness, backbiting, or anger. He thereafter encouraged the congregation to arise because a generation is connected to their obedience, and a world is waiting for their manifestation.
Earlier in the service, Pastor Bisoye Okwoli encouraged the congregation with the Promise of the Week from Psalm 145:18–19, reminding them that God is able to handle the weight of whatever they bring to Him. She urged them not to pretend or hide what they are going through, but to come to God just as they are, trusting in His faithfulness.
She reminded them that God hears and answers those who seek Him, and encouraged everyone to trust Him completely, regardless of their circumstances.
