ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE

Pastor Rotimi Okpaise @Sunday First Service

Pastor Rotimi Okpaise, while ministering at the May 21 Sunday first service, emphasised the importance of believers speaking positively when in challenging situations. According to him, all things are possible with God, irrespective of whatever circumstances His children are going through. “All things are possible with Him. Don’t give up; keep going and cast your cares on God. Trust and depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who leads God’s children into the truth,” he said.

Taking his reference from the Book of John 16:13, the minister explained that God’s children can avoid errors and overcome life’s challenges if they fully depend on the Holy Spirit to guide them in their daily lives. Pastor Rotimi also emphasised the fact that Christians can’t be stagnant without doing anything to find solutions to their problems because the Holy Spirit is active and never docile.

He admonished the congregants to continue in their prayers and believe in the promises of God, as urged in Mark 11:24. “You have to keep asking, seeking, and finding if you want solutions to your challenges,” he said. He further noted that the key role of the Holy Spirit in the life of Christians, which is found in Acts 1:8, is to give the power needed to overcome life’s daily challenges to God’s children.

The man of God then gave the biblical examples of Noah (Genesis 6:8–9), Daniel (Daniel 6), and Joseph (Genesis 37, 39, and 46) to encourage his listeners never to give up on God no matter how long it takes. “As long as the situation is within the will of God and obedience as well as total trust in God aren’t compromised, victory is certain,” he said.

He encouraged the congregants to walk in God’s favour by building up their faith, spending more time studying God’s words, never being anxious for anything, and bringing all situations before God in faith!

“LET THE FIRE FALL”

Pastor Bimbo Abiona @ Sunday second service

At the second service on Sunday, May 21, Pastor Bimbo Abiona stated that the Holy Spirit, to the Christian, is a transformer and a generator of power. The Holy Spirit resides in the Christian and gives him power. She also described the Holy Spirit as a liberator, accelerator, guarantor, and mainstay for a Christian. She stated that the primary purpose of the Holy Spirit is to teach us all things, even as she urged the congregation to allow themselves to be guided by the prompting of the Holy Spirit as they embark upon the journey of life.

She emphasised that the end of the world is coming soon, and she stated that now more than ever, Christians need to be earnest, disciplined, and steadfast in their prayers. Pastor Abiona also said that the prayers of a Christian need to change focus from what is needed from God to what can be done to change lives. She encouraged the church to pray using the word of God and to be in constant communication with the Holy Spirit. “As Christians, we will have tribulations, but there is confidence and assurance that we will overcome because God has already overcome the world,” she said.

She further stated that Christians carry the fire of the Holy Spirit within them, and this ought to be obvious and apparent to all who encounter them. “When we call on the Lord regarding what is disturbing our peace, health, and joy, the fire of the Holy Ghost will answer, and we will have fire-induced victories,” she said.

She added that the Holy Spirit gives boldness and courage and encouraged the church to stand firm in their faith in the same way that the patriarchs of the faith did in the Bible. Pastor Abiona said that every Christian ought to be doing things that will be pleasing to God, regardless of whether they are convenient or not. She likened perseverance in doing things for God to sowing seeds for eternal glory and urged the church not to relent in working for God even when they feel discouraged.

In closing her message, Pastor Abiona said the sign of Christianity is not the cross carried by the Christian but the fire in them, even as she urged the church to press on the journey of faith, avoiding pitfalls that can derail them from getting the crown of glory in eternity.

“OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WORDS BRINGS BLESSING”

Pastor Tony Kanayo Olu @ Thursday showers

Pastor Tony Kanayo, while ministering at the May 18 Thursday showers, said to the worshippers that the Holy Spirit introduces orderliness into any chaotic situation whenever He shows up, as seen in Genesis 1:2. “When you receive the Holy Spirit, He lets you know who you are,” he said.

Using the account of Gideon’s encounter with the angel of the Lord as recorded in Judges 6:11–16 as an illustration, the clergy noted that God’s words to believers cancel whatever negative situations they are going through. He also stated that believers sometimes forget how powerful God is to help or come through for them, stating that this is one of the strategies the devil uses on believers so as to rob them of their testimonies.

“Whatever has happened to you in the past cannot be compared to what God wants to do for you in the future. If He said He would save and deliver you, He would do it. If He has done it before, He can and will do it again,” he said while encouraging his listeners to trust in God and hold on to His promises for them.

Pastor Tony also told his listeners that believers need total obedience to God and His instructions to be able to receive blessings from Him. According to him, there are blessings attached to being obedient to God’s instructions.

He, therefore, urged them to be diligent in obeying God’s words, as therein lie their blessings, just as Gideon recorded huge results after he had listened and followed God’s instructions. “Whatever you do for God is not for Him to be blessed; it is for your own good. So, when He gives you instructions, you need to obey,” he urged.
