Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday Service

During the Sunday service held on November 9, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya shared a powerful message titled “Grace Grip.” He opened with a thought-provoking question: “How is it that the steps of a good man, ordered by the Lord, can still fall?” This question set the tone for a sermon that explored God’s grace and His redemptive power in the lives of imperfect people.

Pastor Jimmy emphasised that God is fully aware of human weakness, adding that He is not looking for perfect people but for people He can perfect through Christ Jesus.

Citing biblical examples, the clergy illustrated how God’s grace worked through flawed individuals. Abraham, who lied twice about his wife Sarah, was still called a righteous man (Galatians 3:6). David, despite committing adultery and orchestrating Uriah’s death, was known as “a man after God’s heart” (1 Samuel 13:14). Peter, who denied Jesus at His most critical moment, was still called the rock upon which Christ would build His Church (Matthew 16:18).

Pastor Jimmy explained that grace is not an excuse to continue in sin but a divine force that sustains believers despite their failures. In his words, “The grip of grace is stronger than the gravity of sin,” reminding the church that grace does not ignore sin but holds us up when we stumble.

In conclusion, he urged believers to remember that when they fall, the enemy, the accuser of the brethren, is always ready to highlight their imperfections before God. However, they should take comfort in knowing that Jesus, the embodiment of grace, holds them firmly. “No matter how hard the devil tries, he cannot pluck us out of God’s hands because the grip of His hand on us is strong,” he stated.

Earlier in the service, Pastor Toluwani Odukoya shared the Promise of the Week from Psalm 145:18–19, encouraging the congregation to build a consistent and personal relationship with God. She reminded them not to approach God only in times of need but to develop a heart of gratitude irrespective of their situations. “We must learn to also develop a heart of gratitude and always thank God for being God,” she said.
