POWER IS AVAILABLE

Pastor Yemisi Akindolie @Sunday first service

Pastor Yemisi Akindolie at the July 16 Sunday first service shared insights on the power in believers and how they can get it activated. Taking her scripture references from Ephesians 3:20, John 1:12; 9–13, Jeremiah 1:18, Act 1:8, and Isaiah 40:30–31, she emphasised that there is power available, even though sometimes we think and tend to ask where this available power is, even when the Bible tells us that this power is in us. We must not let it lie dormant, she said.

According to Pastor Yemisi, power exists in different states, adding that some believers have unfortunately left it in a state of dormancy. “When the power in you gets activated by the help of the Holy Spirit, you are unstoppable; you do and achieve a lot more. You have the authority and power to walk in dominion. You have the power to plant and build as kingdom builders,” she said.

She continued, “The power of the Holy Ghost is one of the spiritual gifts that God has given us. We must activate it. We have the power to put the enemy in his place, just like Jesus did to Satan.”

Pastor Akindolie shared the secrets that make the power indwelling in believers potent or dormant. According to her, the blood of Jesus, God’s word, the Holy Spirit, and fellowshipping with the brethren are enhancers of power in a believer. On the other hand, unbelief, sin, bad company, forgetfulness of one’s true identity, distraction, discouragement, and the idol of oneself are power leakages or resistors in the life of a believer.

In rounding off, she admonished her listeners to be strong in the Lord, to unite their power in love and unity, and to keep doing the things that enhance the power within them and block all the leakages.

FAITH

Pastor Rotimi Okpaise @ Sunday Second Service.

Reading from II Timothy 1:7, Pastor Rotimi Okpaise stated that the spirit of fear is never from God but from Satan. Fear, he said, represents Satan. But God has given His children His power, love, and sound mind. He noted that believers personally relate to this through faith, meaning they have no choice but to continuously read the Bible because faith comes from hearing the word of God daily. It is only the word of God that brings joy and peace.

He also noted that faith moves the hand of God. Reading from Mark 10:47–52, he explained that the blind Bartimaeus in the Bible knew the purpose of the Son of David for the blind, and he believed in it. He knew salvation had come for him that day, but the salvation would not come if he kept quiet, so he sought the Word and shouted, “Jesus, have mercy upon me”. The passersby tried to make him keep quiet, but he shouted more until Jesus came to him. What gave Bartimaeus salvation that day was his faith and what he knew from the Word of God, as stated in Luke 4:18.

He further explained, while reading from John 10:10, that Jesus purpose for all is to give them life in abundance. Abundance in this context is not money; it is mostly peace and joy, which are unquantifiable. If that is missing in one’s life, like Bartimaeus, such a person should call on Jesus today, and He will answer.

He went on to say that Satan moves in response to fear, while God moves in response to faith. In his words, “If you cave in to fear or any negative situation going on in your life, it is a road to destruction, and that is not God’s purpose for you. Turn it around by speaking positively into your life. Be patient; what you don’t know is the time, but that change will come because His word says it. Don’t lose faith.”

Speaking from Matthew 14:24–29, Pastor Okpaise stated that Peter exercised faith by walking on water when Jesus told him to come to Him, but fear gripped Peter when he saw the winds all over again, and he started to sink. Rather than letting Peter sink, Jesus reached out His hand and gave him support. According to him, “Jesus wants to do the same to you today. God is saying He will lend you a hand today; He knows you can’t do it alone, just like Peter could not do it alone either. God is saying to you today that you will not fall or sink. He is saying to ignore those laughing at you, those who are strategically waiting for you to fall, because it is not going to happen. God is right beside you.”

Pastor Rotimi urged the church to hold on to Jesus Christ, who is a big asset believers have. In his message, he stated that God is asking believers to stay in faith because the race is still on.

He also read from Deuteronomy 4:9, where he stated that as a church, believers have to keep the faith, we have to stay in faith, and we have to grow in faith because we are not there yet.

He admonished the church in Psalm 103:2, stating that believers should let their souls keep blessing God as they remember the benefits they have received from Him.

In closing, Pastor Rotimi admonished the church to hang on to God’s Word and study the Bible. According to him, “There is still more of God for us in His Word. Faith does not look at what is; it looks at the possibilities in God. Don’t look at what is going on around you; look at what the Word of God says.

A BRIEF EXPOSITION OF EPHESIANS 5:15-20

Pastor Dapo Williams @ Thursday showers

Analysing the book of Ephesians 5:15–20, Pastor Dapo Williams, while admonishing the worshippers at the July 13 Thursday showers, noted that believers need to walk circumspectly, considering carefully how they walk, adding that there is a tendency for believers to walk as fools.

Time, according to the clergy, is a window of investment, and wise men use time to invest in eternity. “Always reflect on your daily walk to see if it has any effect on eternity. As you walk daily circumspectly, watch whether you have eternity in view,” he said.

The minister continued his message by saying that believers need to have the ability to comprehend what the will of God is, which, according to him, is superior to prayer. “For God to give us this word for this year, it means we need to be serious with God, to grow up and be personal with Him, and not play church,” he stated.

He further said that the evidence of believers being filled with the Holy Spirit is revealed in the way they speak to one another, sing Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and make melody in their hearts. “An unjoyful countenance is evidence of an ungrateful heart,” he said.
