Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday service
Speaking on the message he titled Compensation Package, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya reminded the congregation at the September 20 Sunday service that God is a restorer who intentionally intervenes in the lives of His people, turning seasons of loss and oppression into moments of favour and abundance.
Reading Isaiah 60:14 – 18, Psalm 126:1- 6 and James 5:4, he explained that when God steps into a person’s situation, He does not merely restore what was lost but causes the latter state to become greater than the former. “A lot of times we make the mistake of taking God’s silence for ignorance, indifference and approval. But His silence doesn’t mean He is unaware,” he said.
Using the accounts of Hannah (1 Samuel 1&2), Job (Job 1:3 & 42:12), Esther (Esther 6:1-10), and Philippians 4:19 as examples, Pastor Jimmy explained how God compensates His own, noting that God compensates shame with honour, loss with double, oppression with authority, and lack with abundance.
According to him, when God gives back, He doesn’t give what was lost but double, bringing shame to the enemy. He said, “God is intentional about you. Your environment does not determine your productivity. God’s Word does.”
The pastor encouraged the congregation not to allow past losses to define their expectations for the future, reminding them that what they have experienced in one season does not determine what God can do in another. He therefore urged them to remain expectant and trust God even when they cannot immediately see how their situation will change.
Earlier in the service, Pastor Bolaji Akinyemi encouraged the congregation with the Promise of the Week from Philippians 4:6–7, emphasising the importance of placing their total trust in God. He told them not to be anxious or worried about any situation or circumstance but to continue to make their specific requests known to God through prayer, petition and thanksgiving.
He then assured them that as they do so, the peace of God, which transcends all human understanding, will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
