FIRE WALKER

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday service

Pastor Jimmy Odukoya charged the house further into our month of Divine Fearlessness with a message titled “Fire Walker.” The sermon focused on the reality of trials in the life of a believer and the divine strength available to overcome them.

Speaking from Isaiah 43:1–2, he explained that challenges and difficult seasons are inevitable in the journey of faith. However, while the fire may be unavoidable, destruction is not, adding that God’s promise assures believers that even in the midst of trials, His presence preserves them. “Fire is inevitable; it’s only a matter of time. Although fire is inevitable, destruction is not,” he said.

Pastor Jimmy went on to describe four dimensions of fire as trials, purification, divine testing, and opposition, noting that we believers may encounter any of these. He emphasised that faith does not negotiate with fear, adding that God sometimes allows His people to pass through the fire not to destroy them but to refine them until His image is reflected in their lives. “Sometimes, God puts us in the fire not to burn us, but to refine us, till He can see His image in us,” he said.

Referencing the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3:1-25, he encouraged us to pray not for the fire to stop but for the strength to walk through it. He concluded by saying that through Christ’s grace, believers are empowered to stand firm in adversity and emerge from life’s fires refined rather than destroyed. He concluded, “There are certain realms of God you cannot understand until you find yourself in the fire. Jesus did not just come to give us life; He came to make us a Fire Walker.”

Earlier in the service, Pastor Toluwani encouraged the house with the Promise for the Week from Luke 3:5-6, reminding them that there is power in the name of Jesus to overcome every challenge and bring victory to those who call upon Him. She therefore urged them to never stop calling on the name of Jesus in every situation, emphasising that every circumstance in life must respond to His name. “No matter how deep the valley or how difficult the challenge may seem, it must bow to the authority of the name of Jesus,” she urged.
