Pastor Jimmy Odukoya @ Sunday service
In continuation of his “Water Walker” message, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya reminded the congregation at the March 29 Sunday service of their true identity in God, using water as a powerful symbol of transition, identity, and transformation in the believer’s journey. He described water as a boundary line which represents moments where God brings His people from one phase of life into another, crossing from an old identity into a new one, marking a clear separation between who a person used to be and who God is calling them to become.
Pastor J further noted that disobedience can delay the fulfillment of God’s promises, adding that many believers remain in prolonged “wilderness” experiences, not necessarily because of lack of effort but because true transformation requires an encounter with Jesus. “It is these encounters that break cycles and usher believers into new seasons of purpose and clarity,” he said.
He also made a distinction between conviction and condemnation, stating that conviction comes from God and is meant to reveal areas for restoration and growth, while condemnation seeks to imprison and keep individuals bound to guilt and shame. He further highlighted that Jesus does not relate to us based on our history or past mistakes, but on the basis of His finished work of redemption.
He thereafter urged members to walk in the understanding of what God has done for them and stand strong to walk over challenges of life. “Jesus does not relate to us based on our past; He relates with us based on His Redemption. You are not your past pattern; you are God’s intended design. Jesus came to make you a water walker, so you can spread the good news of the One that has given you life,” he urged.
Earlier in the service, Pastor Toluwani encouraged the congregation from promise of the week which was taken from 1 Thessalonians 2:12–13. She emphasized that the love of Jesus is a powerful and sustaining force, urging them to fully understand and embrace this love, allowing it to overflow into their relationships with others. “It is by His love that we are here, and regardless of life’s challenges, His love continues to grow stronger and more evident,” she urged.
