LIVING IN THE WISDOM OF GOD

Pastor Yemisi Akindolie @ Sunday First Service

Pastor Yemisi in her message at the September 5 Sunday first service stated that believers need to understand the essence of their existence on earth. She said this noting that they didn’t find themselves on earth on their own accord but by God’s purposefulness. “Through the Holy Spirit we identify and know the wisdom that is beneficial to us as Christians,” she said.

Speaking from 1 Corinthians 2:6-10, the clergy further stated that God totally understands everything His children are going through as well as every stage of their existence; noting that some of those challenges are ordained by God from the beginning of their existence to bring Him glory.

She said, “It is the folly of man to consider the things of this world as the limit of enjoyment, sometimes our brain can elicit things that are not real but God says to depend on Him for our lives. We cannot debate the wisdom of God; we can only accept it to help us navigate the issues of life. Even an affliction should not be given any power over our lives because if that happens the affliction will have power over the afflicted. There is always a way of escape from whatever it is.”

In conclusion, she said that Christians need to desire the sincere milk of the Word of God so that wisdom will not be far from them; stating that this will enable them to successfully navigate through life in wisdom. “It is an insult on God for a child of God to allow the critic of man bring him or her down but it is wisdom that will help us overcome this. You should always remember that you are God’s creation and He has placed great value on you. So, do the same on yourself,” she urged.

THE NECESSITY OF GROWTH

Pastor Kunle Osunkunle @ Sunday Second Service

Your purpose that is locked in God cannot be accessed until you start growing in God. These were the words of Pastor Kunle Osukunle at the September 5 Sunday second service held at The Fountain of Life Church.

Speaking on the necessity of growth, the clergy who took his scripture from John 12:24-26 noted that a Christian must realize that when he/she comes to life by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, they become new. But to fully experience that newness of life, they must be willing to die. Such a believer, according to him must die to self. In his words, “The more we die to self, the more we grow and the more fruitful we become.”

Speaking further from 2 Corinthians 4:16-17, pastor Osukunle noted that though our outward man dies, the inward man is renewed daily. He explained that sometimes when something is dying, it is painful and may look like an affliction, but at the end of the day, it is working for the believer a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. “What dies and what lives cannot be compared; what lives is bigger than what dies”, he said.

He went ahead to stress the need and importance of why a believer must grow, explaining that one’s entry into Christ is not enough to sustain him or her through the path of life. “Giving your life to Christ is just the beginning of the opening of that purpose which is locked in Him. You have to grow in God; you must relate with the Holy Spirit to receive and to grow into His fullness.”

WAKE UP, HOW IMPORTANT ARE YOU TO GOD?

Pastor Omolara Adesanya @Thursday Showers

Using the accounts of Rahab and Barak who were nobodies but had their names written as patriarch and matriarch of faith as recorded in Hebrews 11:31-34 and Judges 4; as well as the story of the prodigal son recorded in Luke 15:11-30, Pastor Omolara Adesanya while ministering at the September 2 Thursday showers said that when someone decides and wakes up, do the right thing irrespective of their circumstances, such a person will move in and up.

According to the clergy, many believers don’t have faith even though they know and preach it, hence the reason they run to man whenever they are in challenges instead of running to God. “When something comes like a test, what do you do and who do you call on? Your faith doesn’t have to do with your experience of Christianity but your holding on to God irrespective of challenges,” she said.

She further noted that believers ought to always walk by faith and not by sight; noting that walking by faith requires one emptying himself or herself in order for God to fill them. “When we walk by sight, we will be geared and encouraged by what we see. Your relationship with Christ is eternal. It is the deep trust in what cannot be seen that proffers hope. God cannot use you until you empty yourself before Him,” she noted.

She urged them from 2 Corinthians 5:7 and 1 Peter 3:4-5 to wake up and take charge of their circumstances because the Lord is waiting for them to do so. God is mighty and will never leave His children. All they need is to call on Him and He will answer. “I don’t know what you are going through, whatever it is tying you down, shake it off and wake up from your slumber and stand with God. Don’t believe in your strength. Be an example of who we are in Christ.”
