RESTING IN THE LOVE OF GOD

Today’s Scripture: Psalm 8:3-4

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him?

A certain medieval monk announced he would be preaching the next Sunday evening on, “The Love of God.” As the shadows fell and the light ceased to come in through the cathedral windows, the congregation gathered. In the darkness of the altar, the monk lighted a candle and carried it to the crucifix. First of all, he illumined the crown of thorns; next, the two wounded hands; then the marks of the spear wound. In the hush that fell, he blew out the candle and left the chancel. There was nothing else to say.

God places so much value on man. His heart is filled with thoughts of you. He loves you so much He took out time to fashion out a plan for you even before you were born. Even when you were lost in your sins, His love restrained Him from writing you off. He loves you so much He sent His only begotten Son to die for you.

The love of God towards you is all-encompassing and unconditional; you can rest in it. When everything else around you seems to be failing and falling, you can draw confidence from the fact that God’s love will not allow Him watch you go under. He will see you through. The love the Creator of the entire universe has for you is unflinching. Let this perfect love cast out any iota of fear in your heart and give you rest, in Jesus’ name.

Memorize & Meditate:

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:9-10

Prayer/Confession:

Father, I thank You for Your steadfast love towards me. I ask for the grace to show the same love to the people around me, in Jesus’ name.
