IF MY PEOPLE

Pastor Taiwo @ Sunday Services
The Government Relations week which started on Monday September 18 came to a notable close at the September 24 Family Sunday service with the launch of the hashtag #Ibelieveinnigeria.Speaking on the role of the church in nation building, Pastor Taiwo said that in as much as leaders must have the spirit of discernment and seek God’s face for direction in leadership, the church needs to always pray for the nation and her leaders irrespective of their political parties because it is an instruction from God. “Whether our leaders are Christians or not,

we have an instruction to pray for them and we should learn to pray more, rather than criticizing them. Our individual prayers just like Solomon, Daniel, Nehemiah, Esther and Elijah can deliver an entire nation,” he said.
Using King Solomon’s style of leadership as well as the nation’s responsibilities towards the building of God’s house as recorded in 2 Chronicles 7:1-14 as an example, the man of God said that God’s people need to humble themselves in order to get His attention. According to him, Christians are not called to grumble and complain like unbelievers, but to always make their requests known to God with thanksgiving and supplications as advised in Philippians 4:6.

He therefore urged every child of God never to be weary in praying for Nigeria despite her enormous challenges because she would be healed if they don’t faint. “Prayers for the nation should always supersede our complaints or else, we would start to hate instead of love and we cannot win by hatred,” he said.Top of Form

BE CAREFUL FOR NOTHING
Pastor Taiwo @ Thursday Showers
Pastor Taiwo Odukoya at the September 21 Thursday Showers service reminded the church that anything and everything a believer would ever desire or need to fulfil purpose has already been given to them by God. This, he said, is because God always finishes His plans before inviting His children to start. Therefore they have no need to worry or be scared of the challenges they would face on their journey to accomplishing their purpose.
Hinging his message on the scriptures from 2 Peter 1:1-3 and Philippians 4:6, Pastor Taiwo said that God will always provide all that His children will ever need to fulfil purpose; and once this assurance is well conceived in a believer, success is inevitable. This, according to him, will bring about confidence and a positive attitude from such a believer. “Once you know God has called you to be where you are, you won’t need to succumb to the threats of the devil; you will just rise up and take authority in confidence,” he said.
He therefore urged them not to be afraid or anxious but to be confident that they have the provision in God to fulfil purpose. This knowledge and understanding will help them apply it. “Be careful for nothing because all that pertains to life and godliness are yours,” he said.
