Today’s Scripture:
…But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
George Muller and his wife established 117 schools which offered Christian education to over 120,000 children, many of them being orphans. They were a couple given to prayer, and they taught the children under their care to pray. Every morning after breakfast there was a time of Bible reading and prayer. Muller helped his family to understand his source. The family saw many of their prayers answered. For example, on one well-documented occasion, they gave thanks for breakfast when all the children were sitting at the table, even though there was nothing to eat in the house. As they finished praying, the baker knocked on the door with sufficient fresh bread to feed everyone, and the milkman gave them plenty of fresh milk because his cart broke down in front of the orphanage.
As Christians, we have a responsibility to lead our family members and workforce to God in daily devotion. When we do this we achieve two critical things: one, we demonstrate our confidence in God before our family members and workforce; two, we establish a culture of total dependence on God in their individual lives. It has been established that the most effective way to teach people (particularly children) any principle in life is by demonstrating it.
Billy Graham testified to the impact of family altar as follows: “Mother told us that they have established a family altar with daily Bible reading the very first day they were married. They accepted the book as the very Word of God, seeking and getting heavenly help to keep the family together.” The foregoing further underscores the saying that ‘the family that prays together, stays together.’
It is important that couples set aside time to pray for their homes. Likewise the leadership of every organization ought to create time to pray for themselves and the entire organization and its operations. The Bible, in Acts 10, tells the story of Cornelius and how he often led his household in prayer. God blessed him and his entire household.
We learn in Genesis 18 that Abraham was a man who would teach his children the way of the Lord. Let us make a commitment today to be men and women who will teach those who look up to us to pray. The Lord will give us the grace to do so, and He will bless our household, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer/Confession:
Thank You, Father, for teaching me today that building an altar of prayer for You in my home and organisation is a pathway to peace and stability. I declare today that I will build and maintain an altar to your glory in my home and organisation, in Jesus’ name.
