ALL-SUFFICIENT GRACE

Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:8-9

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Booth-Tucker preached in Chicago one day, and out from the throng a burdened toiler came and said to him, before all the audience, “You can talk like that about how Christ is dear to you, and helps you; but if your wife was dead, as my wife is, and you had some babies crying for their mother who would never come back, you could not say what you are saying.” A little later Booth-Tucker lost his noble wife in a railway wreck, and the body was brought to Chicago and carried to the Salvation Army barracks for the funeral service. After others had conducted the funeral service he stood there by the casket, looked down into the face of the silent wife and mother, and said, “The other day when I was here, a man said, I could not say Christ was sufficient, if my wife were dead, and my children were crying for their mother. If that man is here, tell him that Christ is sufficient. My heart is broken, my heart is crushed, my heart is all bleeding, but there is a song in my heart and Christ put it there; and if that man is here, I will tell him that, though my wife is gone and children are motherless, Christ comforts me today.” That man was there, and down the aisle he came, and fell down beside the casket, and said, “Verily, if Christ can help us like that, I will surrender to Him.”

Human life is frail and fraught with challenges. We live each day conscious of our inadequacies, but if there is anything we ought to be more conscious of, it is the sufficiency of the grace of God. No matter how weak we seem going up against the daunting challenges of life, God’s grace is sufficient to pull us through. The grace of God is not only sufficient when we are weak, it is sufficient, also, to amplify our strengths.

So think about it this way: in weakness or strength, you have God’s sufficient grace available to you. We can understand then why Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Do you have family concerns, business projects, career or ministry pursuits that seem overwhelming? The grace of God is sufficient. Latch onto it. Rejoice in it. Keep moving as the Lord leads you.

The first step to appropriating this all-sufficient grace is to acknowledge and retain an active consciousness of it. Nothing can hold you back from accomplishing God’s ordained plan for your life. At every station or situation you find yourself in life, remember, God’s grace is sufficient for you. Stand firm in it. You can never go under, in Jesus’ name.

Memorise & Meditate:

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

Prayer/Confession:

Thank You, Father, for Your grace. It is sufficient for my every need. I appropriate the grace of God today, and I declare that I have all sufficiency in all things, in Jesus’ name.
