Others

Today’s Scripture: 1 Peter 4:10

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

Years ago, the Salvation Army was holding an international convention and their founder, Gen. William Booth, could not attend because of physical weakness. He cabled his convention message to them. It was one word: “OTHERS.”

A life not lived for others is a life wasted. God created each of us for a specific assignment and none of it is self-serving. He gave us gifts, not to amuse or solely enrich ourselves, but to serve others. In fact, the greatest service we can render to God is that which we render in service to those we expect nothing from in return. “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren” Jesus said, “you do unto me (Matthew 25:40).”

Of course human nature tends toward selfishness. We seem too inundated with the daily grind of surviving and keeping up with the Joneses to genuinely care for others. But we can break that cycle starting today. We can begin to make a conscious commitment to serving others. No other venture guarantees fulfilment and enduring wealth like service to others. Stop. Pause. Think.

How ‘others’ oriented have you been? What will you do, starting today, to shift your focus from yourself to others? Make this commitment to service and watch your relationships take a drastic turn for the better. A mindset of service toward others will positively affect every area of your life, including your wealth and your health. God will give you the grace to be service oriented today. He will bless you. He will cause His face to shine upon you, in Jesus name!

 Memorize & Meditate:

For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13

Prayer & Confession: Father, grant me the grace to put others before me, always, in Jesus name! Help me to be service oriented. I make a fresh commitment to look out for the needs of others. Help me Lord, in Jesus name! Amen.
