Promise for the week: - - Psalm 145:18"The Lord is near to all to all who call upon Him, NKJV News February 27 - March 6, 2010
In the religious setting of Jesus’ time, a centurion was a military commander in charge of a century or 100 men. By that token, he was a great man, representing the Roman government. Luke 7:1-9 paints the portrait of a particular centurion in Capernaum whose servant was ill. The centurion loved his servant so much and wanted to save his life. When he heard about Jesus, he sent for Him in order to save the life of his servant.

Faith is consummated on the altar of performance. Jesus proved this with His pronouncement on the fig tree which failed to produce fruit when the Lord needed it most (Matthew 21:18-22). Analysing the faith issue on Sunday, Pastor Taiwo reminded the church that each member of the Body of Christ is a spirit being capable of doing the humanly impossible. One way of increasing faith, he recommended, is the show of gratitude as demonstrated by one of the ten lepers healed by Jesus (Luke 17:12-19). He stressed that the blessing of the Christian awaits him in his place of obedience, just as was the case of that leper who returned to appreciate the Lord. Pastor Taiwo also pointed out, as Jesus did in response to the request from His apostles shortly before the healing of the lepers: "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.” (Luke 17:6) Pastor Taiwo’s messages are available on tapes and CDs at The Fountain of Life Church Tape Shop.
