WHY do I have to REGISTER  for VOCATIONAL COURSES?

Vocational training is an investment in human resources providing individuals with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills to make them more productive and self reliant. Vocational training is usually short, specific and direct courses that equip participants with the required skills to start their own small scale businesses.

Usually, the start-up businesses are not capital intensive and require small space usage, so they can take off from individuals’ houses with a little capital boost.

It has been historically proven that being self reliant/financially independent, improves self esteem in that it makes one to be confident; which is what Ruth & Boaz Ministry has set out to achieve by giving members of the fellowship, the opportunity to acquire skills in trades they have passion for and subsequently a platform to start their own businesses through attending some vocational courses.

The Ruth & Boaz Ministry which caters for widows, widowers, single parents, divorces and executive singles under the leadership of Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, Senior Pastor of TFOLC believes in empowering members to achieve a sustainable means of income, to take care of the financial needs of their families, especially children.

The fellowship also takes cognizance of the lopsided financial nature of this group; in that the entire family is dependent on a sole bread winner, so financial crunch is always experienced by family members. Therefore, there is need for extra income or in some cases where income is not earned at all, for skills to be acquired to enable the single parent to start earning income.

The fellowship also recognizes the importance of education, so it has included vocational courses that offer adult education. Please we encourage you to take advantage of this facility as most of us are not earning any income or earning low incomes, because we do not have the necessary or acquired education to achieve this! Remember, knowledge is never wasted!

As we undergo healing process, there is also a need to encourage each other, to garner the strength within us and know that by the sacrifice of Christ, we have one more reason to go on!

Dear members, God bless you as you register for a course on-line. See you there!!!

What are Vocational Courses?

Vocational Courses are often referred to as “Career-based courses”. This is because they are designed to teach you the practical skills and knowledge you will need to progress to a career in a specific area, e.g. business, catering etc.

Vocational courses are usually taught at further education (FE) colleges and lifelong learning centres.

What will I study on a Vocational Course?

All vocational courses will have some compulsory modules and some optional modules. Exactly what you will study depends on the particular programme you choose.

As a Grace springs Vocational Centre student you would be required to also take core skills classes to improve your business management skills in preparation for setting up your own business, and spiritual empowerment class for enhancement of your spiritual growth.

How are Vocational Courses assessed?

Assessment is usually through assignments, projects, practical sessions and case study work throughout the courses, with examination at the end of each session. Assessment methods will vary depending on the programme you choose to follow.

What are the entry requirements?

Exact entry requirement will depend on your chosen programme, but as a guide you would be expected to be aged 16 or over, and have a qualification, WASC or its equivalence or ability to read and write. Previous study or knowledge of your chosen subject would be very useful.
